Brands in our showroom
Real zellige are handmade glazed terracotta from Fès in Morocco. Zellige-look tiles are factory-made ceramic with the same gloss and colour variation, but a regular size, mostly for walls.

The same tile, laid four ways. The pattern often changes the wall more than the colour does.
Tip: Calm and modern, all joints run straight through. Small size differences of the wavy edges show more.
Tip: Makes the wall look taller. Good for low rooms and narrow bathroom walls.
Tip: Classic, like a brick wall, and the most common pattern for kitchen backsplashes. Forgives small size differences.
Tip: Lively and eye-catching. Needs more cuts and more time to lay, so include that in the quote.

With small tiles the grout is part of the picture. The same green tile with three grout colours:
White grout
Draws a clear grid. Each tile stands on its own.
Matching grout
The wall reads as one surface. The gloss comes forward.
Dark grout
Stresses size and edges. Graphic, but busier.

Manufacturers rate shade variation from V1 (uniform) to V4 (strong). Zellige-look tiles range from V2 to V4.

From the front a white wall looks almost flat. From the side the reflections break up in the wavy glaze. So check samples on the wall with light from the side.

Very narrow joints
According to Equipe at least 1.5 mm (Artisan installation guide) or 2 mm (Artisan, Mallorca and Marea catalogues). The edges are irregular on purpose.
Mix the boxes
Open several boxes and mix the tiles as you lay them. Otherwise you get patches of one shade.
Grout for kitchens and bathrooms
Equipe recommends water-repellent, mould-resistant grout there instead of plain cement grout.
Clean Artisan gently
The glaze tends to form fine crackles. No bleach, no ammonia. Equipe recommends sealing before grouting.
Plan the edges
For open edges there are trim pieces (bullnose, pencil, jolly). Decide this before you order.

Not the glossy ranges: Artisan, Marea, Mallorca, Zelij and Tsquare 15 × 15 cm are wall tiles according to the manufacturers. For floors there is Tsquare 20 × 20 cm with R10 or Equipe Hikari with R9.
Yes, on indoor walls. What matters is a waterproofing layer under the tiles and a water-repellent, mould-resistant grout.
Yes. The glazed surface cleans with warm water and a mild detergent. For Artisan, do not use aggressive products such as bleach or ammonia.
White is the most common and draws a clear grid. A matching grout makes the wall look calmer. We lay your sample next to two grout colours.
No, they are intended. The manufacturers rate them from V2 to V4. That is why you should look at several tiles together, not just one.
